What a beautiful start to summer this past Memorial Day weekend! The sun was shining (my sunburn unforgivably shows it), the parks were full of families enjoying time together, and the North Park Boathouse had it’s summer opening! They offer everything from paddle boats to canoes through Kayak Pittsburgh, head over to their site to check out their selection and pricing. I’m a huge fan of attempting to be outdoorsy, keyword attempting, and thought it would be a great idea to head over and try out some kayaking. I haven’t kayaked since I was a tween at summer camps but after a little convincing my best friend Megan agreed to give it a shot with me. After a quick lesson of how NOT to get stuck circling yourself, we were out in the water. The views from the lake were beautiful. My arms begun hurting after a while but I definitely recommend it as a workout, I could feel my sore muscles as soon as I got my feet back on land. We had a lot of fun and are very excited to go back and try paddle boarding if we can find our balance! As we were driving out of North Park we saw a set of batting cages and were already feeling adventurous so we stopped and hit a few balls, or should I say Megan hit a few balls haha. The entertainment of the day was myself trying to hit one single 55 mph ball, such an epic failure. You take two girls out of the city for the day and we come back sunburned with blisters on our hands. If you’re looking to get out of the city for a few hours and enjoy the weather, North Park is a great place to escape to for swimming, biking, and boating!
I spent the rest of the weekend doing what I do best, shopping at the Grove City Outlets! So many weekend sales going on, so little time to hit them all! Some of my favorites I found were this duffle from Vera Bradley (60% off!!!!!), polka dot JCrew dress, and some chic Old Navy heels. My style is starting to change from a yoga pantsed freshman to an intern-ing college senior and it’s really starting to show. I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend and kick butt during this four day work week! Woohoo!
