On My Radar: End of November Round-Up

If you’re in college, you’re probably starting your final week of classes before break. Say it with me, WE CAN DO THIS!! Although we’ll be focusing on our studies*cough cough*, we still deserve to have a little fun in the city our last week and throughout our well-deserved Thanksgiving break! I’ll be participating in some of the happenings I’m listing below and hope you find time to hang up the books and spend some time with your family and friends.

Beyond the Lights // Opened in theaters everywhere November 14th

HAVE YOU SEEN THE PREVIEW FOR THIS MOVIE?! This Tyler Perry film looks like it’s going to be a hit. I’m a dedicated follower of pop culture and I think this movie is going to give a very real representation of the dark side behind being in the public eye. My roommate & I saw the preview back when we saw ‘If I Stay’ in theaters and have been counting down the days!

Tip: Use your Student ID at SouthSide Works Theater to see it for six bucks!

Dale Earnheardt Jr. Jr. FREE Concert // Rangos Ballroom Carnegie Mellon University Campus // 7:00 p.m.

I’m always up for hearing new artists! I’ve never been to a show of his but I checked him out on Spotify! and his music is futuristic yet mellow at the same time (and just my style). ‘Mini Mansions’ are also opening up the show. I’ve been to free shows at CMU before and I suggest getting their at least an hour before the start time. Venues reach capacity and unfortunately have to stop letting people in.

 Newsies // Benedum Center // November 25-30th

The Tony Award winning musical is now touring the U.S! I’ve heard nothing but great reviews of the show since it made it’s debut on broadway. I’ll be seeing the production on Thanksgiving day with my family. You can watch a trailer here!

Turkey Trot // November 27th // 9:00 a.m.

This is the perfect way to “justify” eating as much as you can at your Thanksgiving feast! They have a race for everyone: 1 mile fun run, 5k or if you’re a serious runner 5 miles. You’re also giving back to the community on a day dedicated to giving.Get the family together and start a new tradition.

Hunger Games Mockingjay // Opens Friday November 21st

I don’t think this even needs an explanation, IT’S THE HUNGER GAMES! These films are a series to check out, the hype is rightfully earned. You can check out the trailer here! This one’s going to epic.

xoxo, Belle of the Burgh
